Alcohol

It appears that a glass of wine, or any amount of alcohol, may not be beneficial to for your heart, as was previously thought.

A new study co-led by Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania published in The British Medical Journal suggests that a light to moderate amount of alcohol that was thought to be heart healthy, actually is not.

“For many decades observational studies have suggested that drinking moderates amount of alcohol, compared to no alcohol, can actually be beneficial to the risk of heart disease.”

“However, what we’re seeing with this new study, which uses an investigative approach similar to a randomized clinical trial, is that reduced consumption of alcohol, even for light-to-moderate drinkers, may lead to improved cardiovascular health.”
